Nokia has made three of its key network APIs – Quality of Service on Demand, Number Verification, and Device Location Verification – available on the Google Cloud Marketplace, expanding access to advanced telecom capabilities for developers worldwide. This move is part of Nokia‘s broader effort to integrate its Network as Code platform into leading cloud ecosystems and simplify the creation of next-generation digital applications.

By listing its APIs on the Google Cloud Marketplace, Nokia provides developers with streamlined access to reliable and standardized network functions, eliminating the need to manage complex telecom infrastructure. Developers can now incorporate real-time telecom data directly into applications through a familiar cloud-native environment, accelerating the development of secure, high-performance services. Nokia’s APIs leverage GSMA Open Gateway and CAMARA open standards, ensuring interoperability and global reach via Nokia’s growing partnerships with communication service providers.

The Quality of Service on Demand API is designed to support high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity on demand – ideal for scenarios like live broadcasts at large venues, where consistent performance is critical. Through automation, developers can programmatically request guaranteed network performance for specific time periods and use cases.

Nokia’s Number Verification API offers a streamlined method for businesses to authenticate users. Particularly valuable for retail and financial services, the API verifies that a mobile number is genuinely linked to the user initiating a transaction or access request, helping to prevent identity fraud and account takeovers.

Device Location Verification, another security-focused API, enables confirmation of a device’s physical location. This can be used to validate high-risk transactions or service requests, improving accuracy and reducing the chances of fraudulent activity by matching the location of the device with the request origin.

Synergy Cloud Providers and Telecom Operators

Shkumbin Hamiti, VP and Head of Nokia’s Network Monetization Platform, highlighted the strategic importance of this integration: “By exposing our APIs through Google Cloud Marketplace, we’re connecting the programmability of telecom networks with top-tier developer ecosystems, opening the door to global innovation.”

This collaboration exemplifies the growing synergy between cloud providers and telecom operators. According to Muninder Singh Sambi, VP and GM of Networking and Security at Google Cloud, the availability of Nokia’s network APIs through the Marketplace underscores the powerful potential at the intersection of telco and cloud innovation, offering developers secure, intelligent, and scalable tools to power the next wave of digital services.
