In a strategic move aimed at bolstering digital sovereignty and accelerating cloud adoption, AzInTelecom, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON), has entered into a formal partnership with , a global technology provider specializing in edge AI, cloud infrastructure, network services, and cybersecurity.

The collaboration marks ’s first regional venture into the South Caucasus and focuses on building sovereign cloud infrastructure tailored to Azerbaijan’s national data regulations and digital transformation goals.

The alliance introduces a sovereign cloud platform, branded as , which is already live and serving customers across Azerbaijan. The platform is designed to offer secure, low-latency cloud solutions that meet the country’s compliance requirements while supporting the public and private sectors’ need for scalable digital infrastructure. AzInCloud is structured as a public cloud platform and employs a pay-as-you-use model, accessible to individuals, startups, small and medium-sized businesses, government institutions, and entrepreneurs.

The platform includes a wide array of features typically found in enterprise-grade cloud ecosystems: real-time monitoring, simplified cloud management, a selection of operating systems, and a cloud marketplace for services and applications. This suite of capabilities is expected to contribute to broader efforts within the country to foster a digital-first economy and reduce dependency on foreign data infrastructure.

Digital Sovereignty

Gcore CEO Andre Reitenbach described digital sovereignty as a strategic imperative, not a luxury. “We run a sovereign cloud solution with AzInTelecom that provides Azerbaijan complete control over its independent, transparent, and safe digital infrastructure,” he noted, emphasizing that the initiative lays the foundation for long-term resilience and trust in digital services.

Echoing this sentiment, AzInTelecom’s Chief Commercial Officer, Farrukh Farajullayev, said the AzInCloud platform was created to drive digital transformation across all sectors. “With the help of , a well-known European technology company, we are honored to be the first business in Azerbaijan to develop such a platform,” he added.

Founded in Luxembourg in 2014, operates a globally distributed IT network encompassing more than 50 cloud locations and 180 edge nodes. Its infrastructure spans six continents and boasts an average global response time of 30 milliseconds. With a total backbone capacity exceeding 200 Tbps and presence in Tier III and Tier IV data centers, Gcore delivers one of the most responsive and reliable cloud networks in Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

This partnership would not only reinforce ’s ambitions to become a regional tech hub but also exemplifies a growing global trend: the push toward national-level control over cloud infrastructure to ensure data privacy, regulatory compliance, and geopolitical autonomy.
