Cloud monitoring and security platform Datadog has launched its full suite of products and services in the Asia-Pacific (Sydney) region of Amazon Web Services (AWS), establishing local data storage capabilities for customers in Australia and New Zealand. The move is designed to help organizations meet increasingly stringent data residency, privacy, and security requirements in the region, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as finance, government, healthcare, and education.

The expansion enables Datadog’s clients and partners to store and process data within the region, ensuring compliance with local regulations while improving performance through lower latency and faster observability. It also reinforces the company’s global infrastructure, which already includes facilities in North America, Asia, and Europe.

According to industry forecasts, Australian organizations alone are expected to spend roughly A$26.6 billion on public cloud services by 2025. With that growth comes heightened focus on data governance and security, especially for organizations operating under strict regulatory frameworks. Datadog’s regional presence offers a cloud-agnostic solution that allows for end-to-end monitoring across the technology stack while keeping sensitive data local.

“This milestone reaffirms Datadog’s commitment to supporting the region’s advanced digital capabilities – especially the Australian Government’s ambition to make the country a leading digital economy,” said Yanbing Li, Chief Product Officer at Datadog. “Our investment strengthens confidence in Datadog’s unified observability and security platform and positions us to meet the evolving demands of both public and private sector clients.”

Strengthened Local Leadership

The launch also reflects Datadog’s broader expansion strategy in Australia and New Zealand. The company now supports over 1,100 customers across the region and has recently bolstered its local leadership team with key appointments, including Adrian Towsey as Vice President of Commercial Sales for Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) and Yadi Narayana as Field CTO for APJ.

Rob Thorne, Vice President for APJ at Datadog, emphasized that data localization must go beyond cloud providers. “All layers of the tech stack should have local data storage capacity for organizations in highly regulated industries,” he noted. “Datadog’s desire to support these efforts is reflected in this milestone.”

With the new AWS region integration, Datadog would strengthen its ability to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant observability solutions tailored to the specific needs of enterprises operating in Australia and New Zealand.
