Aligned Data Centers has earned a Three Green Globes certification from the Green Building Initiative (GBI) for its newest Phoenix facility, PHX-06, marking a notable achievement in sustainable data center construction.

The certification, part of GBI’s Green Globes for New Construction program, recognizes high performance in categories including occupant health, environmental impact, and resource efficiency. Aligned, a prominent provider of hyperscale and enterprise-scale digital infrastructure solutions, continues to distinguish itself as a sustainability leader in the data center sector.

PHX-06’s certification highlights the facility’s use of 100% renewable energy, advanced cooling technologies, and reduced water consumption. These elements contributed to the facility’s strong performance in GBI’s comprehensive third-party evaluation process, which includes both offsite analysis and onsite verification. Aligned’s Adaptive Modular Infrastructure (AMI), which leverages standardized, prefabricated construction modules, also played a significant role in achieving the certification. AMI supports faster deployment while minimizing construction waste and reducing Scope 3 emissions, aligning with broader goals to limit environmental impact across the supply chain.

U.S. Sustainable Building Practices

GBI, a nonprofit accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has been promoting sustainable building practices since 2004. Its Green Globes certification assesses various environmental and operational criteria including site planning, energy and water use, emissions management, and the interior environment. Facilities earning Three Green Globes have demonstrated excellence in all major assessment areas and are considered to be among the highest-performing green buildings.

“This level of sustainability is an amazing achievement, and Aligned should be proud of the strategies used in the facility’s design and construction,” said Vicki Worden, CEO of GBI. “With its outstanding results in energy efficiency, water conservation, carbon emissions reduction, and occupant health, Aligned continues to show its leadership in sustainability.”

The PHX-06 facility further strengthens Aligned’s reputation for combining innovation with responsible development, especially as demand for AI and high-performance computing infrastructure grows globally. Aligned CEO Andrew Schaap noted that the Green Globes certification not only validates Aligned’s environmental standards but also reflects the company’s ability to deliver large-scale, future-ready infrastructure at speed.

Despite increasing industry demands and a rapidly evolving technological landscape, Aligned remains the most certified data center operator under the Green Globes program. The recognition for PHX-06 underscores the company’s strategy of integrating sustainable practices into its core operations, demonstrating a model for environmentally conscious growth in the digital infrastructure space.
