The NBIP Foundation and connectivity provider ERA-IX have entered into a partnership for the NaWas DDoS protection service. This means that NaWas is now available in the Netherlands and Germany (Frankfurt) on the ERA-IX platform. With this move, NBIP is further realizing its ambition to make shared digital resilience more widely available in Europe.

NBIP offers shared facilities for providers of digital infrastructure and services so that they can maintain their digital resilience and compliance with laws and regulations. The best-known example of this is NaWas, the largest not-for-profit DDoS mitigation service in Europe, which is used by more than 130 organizations in 10 European countries.

"We are not a traditional Internet Exchange, but operate as a connectivity fabric with multiple services,” said Tamer Canki, founder of ERA-IX.“We are not a traditional Internet Exchange, but operate as a connectivity fabric with multiple services,” said Tamer Canki, founder of ERA-IX.The collaboration between NBIP and ERA-IX is a step towards further opening up Europe for NBIP. “We see that the DDoS threat landscape in Europe has changed rapidly and that the demand for reliable, home-grown DDoS mitigation services is increasing,” said Frank Dupker, European Network Manager at NBIP. “The collaboration with ERA-IX enables us to further expand the European availability of the NaWas and thus contribute more broadly to Europe’s cyber resilience. In addition, ERA-IX offers our participants an interesting option for creating additional redundancy.”

Thanks to the collaboration between NBIP and ERA-IX, the NaWas is now also directly available in Frankfurt. Tamer Canki, founder of ERA-IX, explains: “We are not a traditional Internet Exchange, but operate as a connectivity fabric with multiple services. This makes us an alternative to other exchanges and gives us PoPs in over 30 locations that are more geographically dispersed compared to other providers. We have been active for three years and have almost 200 members. Recently, we have seen an increasing demand for DDoS protection among them. By connecting NaWas to our network, we can now offer our members a high-quality mitigation service from the Netherlands with an excellent reputation.”
